(The Canton-Upon-the-Cliffs)

The local chapter of the SCA, to which we belong. We joined in February AS XXXV (2001). The Chreaggers took us in right away, and have quickly become our extended family. If there's any of them that haven't heard it yet, thanks folks.

Ardchreag falls within the Barony of Septentria, the original and largest of the SCA groups in what is now Ealdormere. Like the people of Ardchreag, Septentrians are a warm, fun loving bunch, perhaps being led by example by the current (and past) Baron and Baroness. At our first two events, then Baroness of Septentria, Gaerwen of Trafford, was very supportive (especially of Ŝorfinna), praising her garb-making abilities, our pauldrons, and other projects.
May the Bears always be free. Long live Septentria.

Colyne's Fian Badge: gules, a bear rampant argent, armed and langued azure, collared and chained or.
The White Bear Fian is a Septentrian fighting order. To enter it you must meet certain requirements and be found fitting by their Excellencies Septentria. You must then face a Fianna (member of the Fian) in battle and best them 2 out of 3 bouts. Colyne successfully entered the Fian on his third challenge at Pikeman's Pleasure on June 4 AS 40 (2005). In all three cases he faced Baron Konrad Mattias Jaeger von du Brau.

Sir Evander MacLachlan, his squires and their partners. The group is actually based on a family structure, as opposed to a household structure. At the Coronation of Berus II and Marion II in April 2004, Colyne was squired to Sir Evander. As Evander originally hailed from the East Kingdom, this gives Colyne a bit of a unique perspective, as Ealdormere is a child of the Middle Kingdom.

At the Household's 12th Night on January 3, AS 37 (2003), Duke Sir Finnvarr asked Colyne and Ŝorfinna to act as his Retainers for War and Tourney. This arrangement involved no oath of fealty and lasted for a year and a day. With the retainership over, Colyne and Ŝorfinna wandered on to find their way. Though Colyne squired to a non-De Taahe knight, Thorfinna became a man-at-arms to Sir Rory Cennedi on April 23 AS 39 (2005). Cennedi is the former squire of Sir Mordain Blackcloak, himself a former squire to Sir Finnvarr De Taahe.

On January 11, AS 37 (2003) at Septentrian 12th Night: Bad in Plaid 2, Colyne and Ŝorfinna swore to the Companions (the army under Baron Corwyn and Baroness Domhnail) for thrown weapons. On January 17, AS 38 (2004) they pledged their axe, bow and sword (Colyne adding a "when I am able" clause, as he had others with claims on his service). At Spring Tune-up on May 1, 2004, Colyne officially resigned from the Companions, having become a squire.

Axe-Sisters and Sword-Brothers

Sometimes, when people choose different paths to follow to hone their skills as a fighter, they wish to make a pact of sorts with others not following their own path. This often comes about after a conversation starting out "I know you're going to squire to Sir So-an-so instead of to Master Whosit like I did..."
Listed below are people to whom Ŝorfinna and I feel a special connection, martial and/or otherwise. In my own case, they are people I would have liked to have had as squire-brothers.
Mahault van der Eych: Axe-sister to Ŝorfinna, since Pikeman's Pleasure, June 2002
Wat of Sarum: Sword-brother to Colyne, since summer 2004
Berend van der Eych: Sword-brother to Colyne, since summer 2004
Amilius Claudius Rattanicus: Sword-brother to Colyne, since Trillium War, July 2005
Edward Fuchyn: Sword-brother to Colyne, since March 2006
