In February AS 38 (2004), Thorfinna and Colyne began their first carboy of mead, complete with a stick of cinnamon from St. Kits. This was done under the watchful eyes of Lord Berend and Lady Mahault van der Eych. In June it was racked, filtered and bottled, and, under their teachers' insistence, was entered in the Third Annual Lord Ulrich von der See Memorial Ealdormerean Brewing Competition. In the mead category, 'Our First Mead' scored a 6 out of 10, which is pretty good for a first time effort (especially since the winner got a 7.5).
